Granville Island
Broom Company
Granville Island Broom Co. specializes in the unique art of handcrafted broom making. It is a partnership of Jori Bojm, Mary Schwieger and Sarah Schwieger.
Mary and Sarah learned the craft through their parents, Janet and Rob Schwieger, who have been making brooms in the Kootenay region of BC for almost 20 years.
Jori met Mary while travelling in Kenya, and has since been adopted into the art of broom making. The tradition has been passed down through several broom-makers, originating from a Shaker community on the east coast of the United States.
Visitors to Granville Island Broom Co. are welcome to shop, stay for a demonstration and learn about a historical craft that amazes even today.
