Joel Berman

Glass Studios

Joel Berman is an innovative glass artist and designer whose studio produces original works of glass art and award-winning kiln-cast and pressure-formed textured glass for architecture and interior design applications. Berman’s team of artisans, architects, designers and craftspeople bring ordinary glass to life by embossing texture, pattern and shape onto the surface. This is accomplished by firing panels of flat glass on hand carved moulds in kilns at temperatures that soften the glass, and then allow it to cool.

In 1988, Berman moved his kiln-cast glassworks to Granville Island in order to be closer to the heart of Vancouver’s then relatively new arts community. Since then, the vitality of the people and the vibrancy of the culture of Granville Island has been a constant source of inspiration for Berman’s work.

Joel Berman Glass Studios’ textured glass can be found in corporate offices, airport lounges, retail spaces, and residences worldwide.
