Hilary Morris
Visiting Granville Island (from her then home in London, England) in 1986, Hilary could only imagine how much fun it would be to work on Granville Island. Having made her artistic home here for nearly 16 years, she is still enthralled by this exciting artistic community.
Hilary began painting, with no formal training, when she moved to Canada in 1987 and has made her career capturing vivid and familiar Vancouver scenery in watercolour and India ink. Her detailed, colourful pieces show the city at its bustling best - paintings of the Public Market, Stanley Park, West Side beaches and many other neighbourhoods all capture the joy of visiting and living in this place.
Hilary’s paintings of Granville Island are now so familiar that one has been used as the artwork for the celebration of the Island’s 30th Birthday in 2009 - a true honour, considering her absolute love of this community.
