Jasna Sokolovic

Ceramics

With a foundation in architecture, Jasna moved from Yugoslavia to Vancouver in 1994. Soon after her arrival, she discovered Granville Island and has been a regular ever since. After two years working at a local restaurant, Jasna enrolled at Emily Carr Institute of Art + Design, where she earned her BFA in 2000.

Three years ago she joined another artist at the beautiful Railspur Alley studio. Jasna is continuously inspired by Granville Island’s blend of artistic and industrial roots, which is apparent in her artwork, particularly her outdoor series.

She works primarily with clay, which she uses as a basis to explore gallery installations, fashion and interior design. Jasna has participated in gallery shows throughout Canada and the United States, including a solo show at the Gallery of BC Ceramics. Her work is featured in the Lark Books Transfer Imagery on Clay, 500 Tiles and Surface Design for Ceramics, as well as in the HGTV television series.
