Meet Edie Orenstein, the heart and soul behind the legendary Edie Hats. Edie grew up in a small town near Halifax on Canada’s East Coast. She was born into a family of artists and performers: a theatrical environment that fed her passions for costume, hats and self-expression. After extensive training, she went on to a career in theatre and film, becoming an established hat designer, historian and expert.

At night, set against the lively backdrop of Granville Island, the shop transforms into a real theatre to host enchanting evenings of music, dance and live performance. By day, Edie Hats is as colourful as the market, packed from floor to ceiling with thousands of wonderful hats. Visitors come from around the world to explore and enjoy, to jam on the piano, browse through antique books or to just watch the magic unfold.
